Wednesday's What I Found - More Thrift and Frugal Finds

As you probably know by now, I'm always on the look out for a frugal find.  Whether it's a piece of furniture, a window, clothes, crafting supplies, or whatever, it's hard for me to pass up a deal.
This weekend while My Princess was at the Home Depot kid's workshop making this darling dry erase board, I spotted these Martha Stewart and Glidden paint samples.
They had a bunch of them in various colors all for just $.50...I snagged a variety of different colors for only $4!!!  These will certainly be put to good use in the future.
When I was in WV visiting my mom over the holidays I had to stop at her local thrift store.  This is the store where twice a year they have fill a bag for $1...this wasn't one of those times but I still found a couple great deals.  The first was on these Pillsbury cookbooks.
I got this whole lot for just $3...15 cookbooks in all!  These are each $4.99 at the store these days...what a steal!!
I also found my new purse that day.  $2.50 for this cutie.  It has several good size dividers inside, so my purse is more organized than ever!
Have you found any great deals lately??

Wednesday's What I Found - Thrift Store Fashionable Finds

Ok, it's confession time...I wear my PJs more than I don't.  I do not wear them to the store however or out of the house except maybe to the garage or back yard.  My goofy sister and I were going shopping one day and she came out to my car in her PJs to see if I would say anything...I was speechless, literally.  I was thinking "Oh DEAR, has she gone this far!!"  We stay-at-home and homeschooling moms teeter on the edge of sanity sometimes but that's a whole different series post.
When they let me I do leave the house, I like to look nice.  Gravity has had a strong pull over the past several years and so I'm trying to adjust my wardrobe but of course on the frugal budget.  If you're new here, I'm a HUGE thrift store, ReStore, salvage store shopper.  I've showed you some of my shopping deals in the past but this time I thought I'd show you how I put these thrift store finds together into some fashionable outfits.  Last week, my local American Cancer Society Store had 50% off everything in the store...I hit the jackpot!

Someone my size must have been getting rid of their entire wardrobe because I was able to get Aeropostle, Gap, Liz Claiborne, and many other name brand items for no more than $2.50 each.

Not too shabby for $4-$6 per outfit, huh?

Wednesday's What I Found - Rustic ReStore Finds

Just in case I need to remind you...I love ReStore.  I have had so much fun finding inexpensive and charming things to decorate our house.  This last week I almost didn't go but my Better Half called me from ReStore and encouraged me to meet him there...I am sooo glad I did.
My Better Half found the washboard while I spotted the crate and ladder.
The ladder was only $4 and I couldn't have distressed it better had I done it myself.
The crate was $4 also.

I've already put them both to use.  The crate is housing this precious snowman family my mom made for me.

The ladder is showcasing my Christmas cards.
I was really excited when I came down this morning and caught my son checking out the cards.  I'm not sure he would have paid attention had they not been displayed!
I.  Love.  ReStore.

Blessings,

Wednesday's What I Found - Dollar Store Boxes - Drab to Fab

I've made a couple trips to the dollar store lately.  You know, the stores where everything is only $1.  Those stores are just crazy.  I know, there can be a lot of junk but there are certainly a lot of possibilities there too.  I was looking for some storage containers for the mudroom and came across these collapsible boxes.
The colors were very limited...burgundy and a blue striped variety.  I really wanted black but I knew if I had to get them elsewhere I would pay quite a bit more for them.  So, I picked them up for $1 each {CRAZY} and pulled out my trusty spray paint and got busy.
The weather here has turned wintery so I can't spray paint outside or even in the garage anymore so I've been using this big box as my spray booth.  It works really well and keeps all the mess contained to this one space.

Pretty cool, huh?  What an easy and cheap solution.
Once again spray paint to the rescue!!
I started thinking that I would like to spruce them up a bit further so I took a strip of material from my curtains and pillows, folded it over and sewed one side...leaving the other side finished.

Then I took a piece of felt and traced a circle on it using the bottom of my spray paint can as a guide.
Next I just started hot gluing the strip of material around the felt, working my way to the center.

When I got to the center, I just tucked it in and hot glued it.
Finally, I hot glued the rosettes to the smaller dollar store containers.
On the bigger containers I added a piece of material around the outside and then glued the rosettes on the front.

{LOVE IT}
Such an easy, inexpensive way to make something drab look fab!!

Wednesday's What I Found - Ten Terrific Thrifty Finds

I love a good thrift store.  I would choose a thrift store over the mall ANY day of the week.  My Better Half and I make a trip to the ReStore weekly.  We make it our weekly date night and I really couldn't think of a much better date.  Some nights we walk away with nothing, other nights with big things like our huge window or our buffet that we turned into an island, but most of the time we leave there with just a few little odds and ends.  I love to browse their housewares and hardware departments...you just never know what you're gonna find.  Here are a few of our more recent bargains.
I got this Tupperware cake taker for $1.  I looked it up online and found that Tupperware is not cheap.  What a steal!
Yes, I know it goes the other direction :))
We got this little candle holder this past weekend.  It too was only $1.  To paint or not to paint...that is the question!
I had been looking for some old straw wreaths this summer at a flea market but with no success.  I found them at my ReStore a few weeks ago for $.50 each.  I've already got a few ideas for these beauties.
With four kids, drywall dust, and all the other junk floating around here these vacuum bags for $1 were a great find...yes, they even fit my vacuum cleaner :)
I found this large "Dream" sign during the summer for $4 at ReStore as well.  I painted it last weekend with a Terra Cotta Milk Paint.  I really like the results.
This cute little jar and all its contents were only $1.  Now that I've conquered my first few sewing projects.  I might be needing this thread.  If not...I love the little jar!
I came across a bag full of these hangers a couple of weeks ago for $2 and thought I may use them in my mud room.  I don't know though.  Trying to decide if I want the the shabby look or not.
 My Princess has been asking for a Christmas tree in her room.  ( I refuse to start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving but she is planning ahead already!)  This was at ReStore this past weekend for $2.  They had a ton of other decorations too.  {LOVE IT}
At the end of every month my local American Cancer Society Store puts everything 50% off.  I can hardly wait for the end of the month to run in there and see what I can't live without.  This topiary was one of those things.  The deal was this topiary and a little one for $1...crazy, huh?
This last find was not really a deal at all.  Remember the wash tub My Better Half picked up beside the road?  This was in with the variety of stuff he brought home.  It was a brand new can opener and wouldn't you know...my was on it's very last leg!
I love the satisfaction of finding a really great deal...Don't you??

Wednesday's What I Found - Frugal Organizing

Remember the really great deal I found on pillows for my couch??  Well, that very same day I found another great deal...this time it was on Boxes to organize in My Princess' Room.
I am always looking at cute containers to organize around the house but rarely am I willing to pay the asking price for them.  These however were part of the "Back to School" clearance and so I got them for 75% off!!
Regular Price - $26.00
My Price - $5.00
WHAT A DEAL!!
I put them all in my Princess' purple room.  I organized her little things like: nail polish, lip gloss, curlers, little toys, note pads and pens.
Now I need to come up with some cute little tags to identify what is in each box.
 Practical, Cute, and, Frugal.
Don't you love a good deal!?
