May Garage Sale Finds

The Garage Sales are in full swing in "my neck of the woods" and I've hit a few bummers but a bunch of winners too!  My new favorite sales are Estate sales...I'm not sure if that means I'm getting older or what but, I find all the neat older odds and ends to be very intriguing.

These lanterns were 50 cents each, yes, only $.50.
This one is iron and I'm very curious as to its intended use.  Any ideas?
These jars filled with wooden spools were only $1...Oh, the possibilities!!
This cracker tin was  a quarter at a church rummage sale.  I got several more items from this same sale but they are already in the process of a makeover...I'll show you those soon!
This heavy duty trash can was a freebie...I'm thinkin' light fixture of some sort??

I found various baskets, buckets, and more for just a couple of dollars.
Doesn't this bushel basket look cute by my newly painted bed frame bench?
This little stool is going to spruce up nicely with a coat of paint.  $1 for this cutie!
And now my favorite find of this month was this beauty...
I was looking for an inexpensive dresser for my boys' room and was shocked when I came across this solid wood (not veneer), antique dresser.  And the best part...
Can you believe it?  $25??  I couldn't even haggle for that price.  It's going to get a makeover but don't worry...I do consider this good wood and won't paint it.
Anywhoo, those are my finds for this month...I'll have a bunch more in June, I'm sure.  Have you found any great ones lately?
Blessings,

Mother's Day Message Tray

Mother's Day is just a few days away and I'm so excited because my mom is coming up from WV...YAY!  There are 20 of us in my immediate family and we are all going to be together, as well as some special friends too...another YAY!!
I still haven't decided what to give my mom although I have made a few things in honor of Mother's Day.  My latest little project was made from a thrift store purchase.  This is the end result:
My Princess bought these flowers with her own money and made me this card at church.  She wrapped them up yesterday and gave them to me because she couldn't wait until Mother's Day...what a sweetie!
And this is how I got there.  I took this tray I bought for a dollar or two at a thrift store...
Primed and painted it.  (Limeade is my new favorite color)
Then I taped it off and painted the inside with chalk board paint.

After it dried, I removed the tape and had a nice square of chalk board in the middle of the tray.
It's perfect for little messages,
My Princess left this message for me this morning :)
breakfast in bed
or a new little piece of home decor!
My Better Half left this message this evening...Isn't he creative!!??
It is a cute little addition to our house and would be perfect for someone to bring me breakfast in bed...hint, HINT!!

Flea Market Finds

I'm back in Ohio now and My Better Half took the yesterday off to spend with the kids and me.  We had a great day doing our first Geocaching of the year.  It was so fun and got us eager to get back into it.  If you haven't tried it yet, you can read my post here about it.

We also visited a flea market.  I was blown away by the prices...they were outrageous!!!  I saw a cute lamp that I liked and tried to make a deal with the owner but she wasn't willing to come down on the price and I wasn't willing to pay full price...Bummer!

And then I spotted it...just about the same time My Princess did...this little Raggedy Ann doll.  I love Raggedy Ann.  We walked away with her for only $2.  This same lady had a Holly Hobby doll named Carrie.  I used to have the exact one when I was little.  If she hadn't had an inexperienced individual give her a hair cut, I would have picked her up too.
This peanut butter jar and pin can caught my eye and the owner threw them in for FREE...Love it!
I did find these other deals too.
This wooden barrel was only $2.  I thought that was a fabulous price.  I think it's gonna go on my front porch.
These decorative bird cages were, well, nothing short of ugly but they won't be for long!  I'll show you the finished look soon!  I got the set for $2.
It was a really fun day and I got some great finds.  I'm getting eager to garage sale...I hope they start here soon...probably not though...it's snowing here in Ohio today...YUCK!
