Easy Buckeye Bars

I've told you before that I love the sweet and salty combination.  Well, I was looking for a easy, yummy recipe to take to a game night at church and I found this recipe from Six Sisters' Stuff.  It is for No-Bake Buckeye Bars.  The addition of pretzels to the "normal" buckeye is this recipe's secret ingredient and I will say that is a perfect addition.

Here's what you need:
For the Bars:
2 cups peanut butter
3/4 cups of unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
3 cups pretzel sticks, crushed

For the topping:
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
crushed pretzels

Here's what you do for the bars:
Cream the peanut butter and butter.

Then add powdered sugar and crushed pretzels and combine well.
Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper and then spray the parchement paper with cooking spray.  Spread the peanut butter mixture into the pan and set aside while you prepare the topping.

Now for the topping:
In the microwave, melt the 1/2 cup peanut butter and chocolate chips, stirring every 30 seconds until nice and smooth.

Then just pour and spread this on top of the peanut butter mixture.  You can then garnish this with some crushed pretzels.

Refrigerate for at least 90 minutes before cutting.

These were a big hit at our church game night and they were way easier to make than regular buckeyes.

Enjoy,

Organizing for Girls

I love to clean and organize but there are some rooms in my house that just pain me.  My Princess' room is one of those rooms.  She has sooo much stuff and not much space to put it.  So when things are not ever regularly put back where they go, her room ends up looking like this.

Nice, huh?
A friend of ours gave her a cute hand-me-down princess tv and so we had to move things around quite a bit to make room for it.
We purged alot from her dress up and baby doll clothes
and cleaned out and organized her clothes.
We worked on her hair supplies.  Isn't this a neat way to organize pony tail bands?

I need to pick up a few more hook clips (carabiners) so I can color code them.

Her headbands are organized and seem to stay neat on this oatmeal container.

I guess I could cover it to make it look pretty...still haven't gotten that far!

Her bobby pins stay neat in this little jar.

I tried sticking the bobby pins to a magnet inside her drawer...that didn't work.  They fell every time the drawer was closed.

A while ago I showed you this old cabinet door that we turned into a jewelry hanger.  It continues to keep her necklaces organized and not in a big ball in her drawer.

All we did was put some little nails in this old cabinet door and give it a paint job.

We reorganized her shelves and got everything put back in it place (AGAIN).

Now that we've moved her furniture around, even though we added a tv, her room actually looks bigger.  It's been a few weeks since we have gotten it clean and organized and this is what it looks like today.

There is no closet in this bedroom so her clothes all hang in the little built-in space.  I don't know what we're gonna do when she is a teenager!!  Only one of the bedrooms in our house has a closet!!  Crazy, huh!?

I am she is we are working hard to keep it in order now.  I think it's paying off!
Remember, organizing does not have to be expensive.

Here a some other past posts on My Princess' Bedroom.

Blessings,

Snow Icecream

We are getting an abundance of snow this year.  It is certainly not my favorite thing but it makes me very thankful for a toasty home!

When I was little, I loved playing in the snow, making snowmen, and one of my favorite things...eating snow. I know, some of you may think it's gross but I have lived to tell about it!  My kids have taken after me and love to play in the snow and eat it too.  I decided to add a little flavor to the snow and tried whipping up some snow ice cream.

Who better than Paula Deen to get the recipe from?
This is a simple three ingredient recipe:

1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
10 cups fresh snow (8 cups if it's packed down)
Stir all the ingredients thoroughly

And serve immediately.

It is delicious and fun!
And just in case you were wondering, I am aware of the risks involved in eating snow.  So if you're not willing to take that risk, I understand.  But if want to try this yummy recipe regardless of the risks...

Enjoy,
