90% Off at Family Dollar

I haven't shared any of my shopping deals lately...particularly the ones from the grocery store.  This one however, was just too good to keep silent about!!
See this crazy loot??
There is a story.  My mom and I walked into Family Dollar.  I don't even remember what we actually went in there for.  Anyway, we were ready to check out and I saw a cart with milk and fruit drink just sitting in it.  I made a comment to my mom like, "Wonder how long this has been sitting here?".  The manager overheard me and assured me that it was just taken out of the cooler, as had a whole other shopping cart of stuff been taken out of the freezer.  The store was moving to a new building across the street and they had just emptied their coolers for the move.
She continued to tell us that we could have whatever we wanted for (drum roll please...) 90% OFF.
My mom and I quickly and quietly said, "We'll take it all!"
We ended up with:
4 Gallons of Milk
4 Gallons of Fruit Drink
10 Pints of Breyers Icecream
3 Boxes of White Castle Mini Cheeseburgers
5 Boxes of Banquet Hot Wings
6 lbs. of Ground Beef
12 Boxes of Good Humor Icecream Bars
8 Boxes of Taquitas
3 Boxes of Hamburger Patties (not pictured)
The Grand Total...$21.00  That is a savings of over $200!!!  It's doesn't get much better than that...oh, and I didn't even have to use a coupon!!!
I don't believe in good luck.  I know this was a gift from God to my mom and I.
Blessings and Happy Shopping,

Pom Pom Spiders

I love coming up with school Art projects, especially for My Princess.  She loves anything that requires cutting and pasting and that makes it super easy for me.  I use Enchanted Learning for seasonal ideas and this  one turned out so cute, I thought you might like to do it with the little ones in your life or maybe just for a Halloween decoration.
Cute, huh!?
All you need is some yarn, a piece of cardboard, some googly eyes, and 4 pipe cleaners.

Start wrapping the yarn around the cardboard to make your pom pom.  The more times you wrap it around the heartier your spider will be.
Once you get it to your liking, remove the yarn from the cardboard being sure to keep it as it was on the cardboard.
Next, squeeze the center of it together and lay center the pipe cleaners on your yarn.  Tie the center of the yarn and the pipe cleaners together.

Then, cut through the yarn on both sides.
Bend the legs to look like spider legs, attach the eyes and you have these adorable scary spiders.

Have fun and make a memory!!

Blessings,

Making a Mirror Image

After spending several hours trying to figure out how to make a mirror image of my text for this Wedding Wall Hanging, I thought it would be helpful to share with you what worked for me.  I am sure there are other ways to do it and I certainly do not know them, but this one worked for me so I'll share it with you.
First, type up your text.  I typed mine up in Word.
Then I copied my text and pasted it into (the program) Paint
Once in Paint, I clicked on "Image" from the top tabs and then "Flip/Rotate"
Then click "flip horizontal" and "ok"
This will invert your image.
Now, before you print, if your image is wider than it is long, make sure you change the page set up.  To do this, go up and click on "File" then "Page Set Up".
From here you will click on "Landscape" instead of "Portrait".  Now you are ready to print and work with your mirrored text.
I have read in many places on the internet that flipping an image like this is an option on printers.  This was not the case with mine.
Like I said before, I'm sure there are other ways to do this as well,  but this is what worked for me...I hope it  will make it easier for you too!
Blessings,

Wedding Wall Hanging

I found the most awesome and simple tutorial for transferring text or images from my cheapo printer onto wood, over at Diddle Dumpling.  It was perfect for this project I'm going to show you today.
A couple months ago, I shared some idea with you from a bridal shower I attended.  Well, the wedding is this weekend and so I wanted to make the happy couple a present.  Making a gift is almost always less expensive and can also be nicer just because of the personal touch.
So, here's what I did...
I took special things from their wedding invitation, one of which is their initials, made mirror images of them, and printed them out.
I applied them to a distressed piece of cedar by laying them, ink side down, on the board and squirting the paper lightly with water.

Next, I took a marker cap and gently but thoroughly rubbed all the letters so the ink would release from the paper onto my wood.

I did this same thing with the date of their wedding, and the scripture that was on their invitation.
The verse came out a little lighter than I wanted, so I touched it up with some black paint.  Then I sanded over it to give it the same "old" look as the rest of it.
My Better Half drilled holes in the signs and attached them together with copper wire.

I now have a personal, inexpensive gift to give.

I really like this look and it was very easy.  I'm excited to try this on some other projects I have coming up!
Now, off to figure out what I'm going to wear to the wedding!
 Blessings,
