Here's the idea... make dinner roll dough (or buy it, which ever you like). After shaping your rolls, place a "message of thanks" inside each roll. When the "roll eater" opens the roll, they find a special message inside. Isn't that neat?
So, first I just created some messages that I wanted to give to my family and wrote them on paper with a sharpie. I cut them into little strips and then wrapped them in foil.
I used my Amish White Bread recipe for my dough. After letting it raise, I shaped the dough into balls. My mom always put three little balls in each muffin cup, so that's what I did.
Then I placed my little message in the center of the rolls. Make sure you tuck them down in there as far as you can so they won't pop out or show after they are baked.
Once the rolls raised, I baked them.
When they come out of the oven, your messages and dinner rolls are ready to be served.
You could also make your messages something like: "I am thankful for..." and have the recipient fill in the blank during dinner. This would make for great conversations of gratitude!
I have so much to be thankful for and this is such a creative way to express it. Thanks to The Idea Room for the great idea!!
Blessings,

Very cute idea. Glad I read the whole thing, not just the email; that leaves out the foil and that was concerning, lol.
