My Shopping Trip - Week of 5/30

Well, I did it!  I went and blew my grocery budget.  I don't do it often but with my son recovering from surgery and frankly me willing to buy whatever he wants to eat right now, I went out and spent just over $90.  The fact that I didn't shop last week didn't help either.  Oh well...I'll do better next week.

I didn't break down my receipt this week because of time.  Being mom, wife, teacher, housekeeper, and now nurse really zaps the time.  I did want to show you a couple of the really good deals I got though.

I don't typically shop at Marcs because of the length of the lines.  I almost always spend more time in line than I do shopping in the store so I try to avoid it at all cost.  But I was made aware of a deal on garbage bags (which we use a lot of and rarely find an awesome deal) and so I simply had to go.
This was the deal:

Hefty Garbage Bags $.87 minus $.55 coupon = $.32 for 10 Hefty garbage bags or $2.26 (including tax) for 60 garbage bags.

Giant Eagle had a money making deal this week.  I'll probably have to head back out before the sale is over to see if I can cash in on this deal again.  There are many possible scenarios but this is the one that worked for me.
4 Playtex Tampons
     Shelf Price - $4.98 each = $19.92
     Sale Price - $2.49 each = $9.96
     Minus Coupon - $1.50 off each = -$6.00
     OOP - $3.96

2 Edge Shave Gel
     Shelf Price - $2.99 each = $5.98
     Sale Price - $2.00 each = $4.00
     Minus Coupon - $1.10 off each = -$2.20
     OOP $1.80
Now, for spending $25 SHELF PRICE I got $10 OYNSO for a
profit of $4.24
I had the opportunity to get my garden in this weekend!!  YAY!!  I can't wait to enjoy some fresh veggies.  This always helps with the grocery budget too.

Handsaw ReStore Find

I have walked past the bucket of handsaws at my ReStore probably 50 times wondering what I could do with one of them.  Finally, I picked up a few and decided to take them home and wait for the inspiration.  It hit last week and I was really excited with the results.
I decided to use stencils and then spray painted them...adding "Welcome"

or a family name.
After spray painting the letters on, I used a piece of ScotchBrite to distress them a bit.  The rust from the saw turned the letters a bit...rusty.  It's not easy to see in this picture but the "WIL" has been "rusted" and the other letters haven't been...yet.
I then just clear coated them to seal them up and they were good to go.  Both of these are for gifts.  I can't wait to make one for my front porch.

These are two of the finished products.

These were only $2 each at my ReStore and I think they make a really nice gift.  I can't wait to start my next ReStore project.
